THE PUBLICK ENTERPRISE         February, 1998
Gallery talk offers instruction  - for inexperienced art lovers
Obelyn Galleries will begin its 1998 Gallery Talk Series with "Art for Dummies" on Wednesday, February 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the gallery, located at 194 Green St. in downtown Annapolis.
"Art for Dummies" is designed for everyone who has ever aboided art galleries because they feel uncomfortable with their knowledge of art - or lack thereof.
"The presentation is a light-hearted but serious discussion of art appreciation and aesthetics," explained gallery owner Loretta Jurnak.

The talk will be given by Baltimore artist Caroline Jasper. Jasper is Art Department Chair at Chesapeake High School in Baltimore County, where her responsibilities include teaching aesthetics, painting, fine arts, and art history.

There is no charge for the gallery talk; coffee and dessert will be served prior to the lecture.
Obelyn's gallery talks are an ongoing series of presentations and demonstrations designed to inform and entertain anyone interested in the visual arts. Future topics include "Oil Painting Techniques and Materials" by Karen Harley in March; "American Impressionism" in April; and "Color Issues, Theory and Visual Perception Concepts" in May.
