The Clash of Art and Fashion Summertime is an opportunity to cut loose and have some fun. It is in this vein that the Zenith Gallery is hosting "A Tribute to the Art of Clothing" from June 11 - July 18th. Featuring the work of artists Gina Bernardini, Jean Hicks, Kathleen Holmes, Caroline Jasper, Donna M. McCullough, Susan Roberts, Sica, Alisa Singer, and Joyce Zipperer, the show explores both the artistic side of fashion and the fashionable side of art with humor and aplomb. Through disparate mediums the show's artists present their fashion theses and findings with results ranging from Joyce Zipperer's whimsical aluminum wire pantaloons to Donna McCullough's cheerleading outfits made from vintage gas and oil cans. Any woman (or man for that matter) who has spent a painful day in high heels will relate to Susan Roberts' "metal shoe with bow." The raw-cut metal sculpture of a stiletto heel serves as a painful reminder of fashions' historic disregard for comfort. Receptions to meet the artists will be held Friday June 11th from 6-9 pm and Sunday June 13th from 3-5 pm, with an artists' panel discussion at 2 pm.
