Peninsula Gallery to host book signing, reception May 14 A newly released book titled "Powercolor," by Caroline Jasper and exhibit of some of her most recent paintings will be available to the public Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15, in the Peninsula Gallery in Lewes. A reception to meet the artist will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, when she will discuss her paintings and sign copies of the book. Although this book may, at first glance, seem to be directed only at the artist, this is not so. Starting from the basics of what is color, and how people see it, Jasper goes on to discuss the color wheel, color concoctions and colors in contrast - all things that people who like to decorate their own homes will find useful. Jasper looks in depth at color values, color temperatures and color intensity. From the artist's viewpoint, the book is a one-stop learning tool. It elucidates the myriad aspects of color that both fascinate and frustrate most artists. |

Lavishly illustrated and including 10 in-studio visits with contemporary artists, each of whom tells a different story with color, "Powercolor" is an invaluable learning resource and reference for artists who want to expand their knowledge about and invigorate their use of color. Rather than promote a particular theory, method or use of materials, "Powercolor" offers readers the freedom and spontaneity to develop their own creative path. The Peninsula Gallery is located at 520 E. Savannah Road in Lewes, just across the canal bridge. It is open seven days a week. For more information about Powercolor or any of the other exhibits, call 302-645-0551 or visit the gallery's website at www.peninsula-gallery.com. |
