Retired Chesapeake High School art teacher authors her first book on color concepts
POWERCOLOR

Caroline Jasper sketches a landscape at the desk in her Bel Air art studio.

You would think after working in education for 31 years, a person would seek a simple life after retirement. But that is not the case with Caroline Jasper, a former art department chairperson at Chesapeake High School. Since retiring in 2001 Jasper's life has been just as busy as her days teaching, if not more. It isn't rare for her to spend days at a time on the road teaching seminars. But for the last two years, another project has been taking up much of the artist's time - authoring her first book, "Powercolor-Master Color Concepts for All Media."

Caroline Jasper writes in "Powercolor," I paint on a bright, hot red ground." She then goes on to explain why she does so, "Red's fervent psychophysiology presents challenges worth facing. Its emotive implications fortify expression."
