AT THE SEVENTH ANNUAL
ART METHODS &
MATERIALS SHOW
Popular instructors are ready to offer new educational programs as well as their most successful courses during the three-day event in Pasadena, California, that will also include more than 80 art-material displays and a juried exhibition.
American Artist is once again presenting a three-day convention for artists that will include a wide range of workshops, lectures, and demonstrations, as well as an art competition and an exposition of art supplies. Everything will take place at the Pasadena Conference Center at 300 East Green street in Pasadena, California, from October 11 through 13 (workshops begin on October 10), with the expectation of a special outdoor painting workshop at the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in nearby San Marino. The complete schedule of events is printed in a brochure available by calling 855-263-4463 or logging on to www.artmethods.com.
Nationally known artists will conduct 175 workshops, demonstrations, and lectures on working with watercolor, oil, graphite pencil, pastel, acrylic, markers, monoprinting, airbrush, mat cutters, and more. Experts will also offer advice on marketing artwork, developing a web site, assembling a professional portfolio, licensing images, and effectively promoting artwork.

The exposition area will offer attendees a unique opportunity to sample products, watch demonstrations, ask technical questions, and purchase supplies - many at discounted prices. There will be a special hands-on area where attendees can try out an airbrush, test watercolor paints, sample pastels, and experiment with many other art supplies. And for those who want to help make history, there will be an opportunity to paint one of the squares on the world's largest canvas painted by more than one artist.

NEW WORKSHOPS OFFERED
Several professionals will offer new courses that are sure to interest artists who have been attending the Art Methods & Materials Show over the past six years, as well as those participating in the workshop program for the first time.
------

Through a variety of workshops, Caroline Jasper will teach intermediate and advanced oil painters how to heighten the impact of their work. To hone

techniques in perspective, one of Jasper's workshops (D114 Vision for Painting, October 13, 9 am - noon) will help students understand the relationship between what they see and how it is best translated onto canvas. In a related workshop (B154 Dramatic Depth in Paintng, October 11, 5 pm - 8 pm), students learn methods of enhancing the illusion of form and distance. Advancing skills in manipulating color and light, Jasper focuses on painting reflective surfaces (C133 Capturing Transparency - Oil Paints, October 12, 1 pm - 4pm) and color interaction techniques (C114 Landscape Oil Painting on Red Ground, October 12, 9 am - noon). In another class, painters of all levels in any medium will put color-value, temperature, and intensity theories to work (A113 Powercolor -Color Theory and Practice, October 10, 9 am - 4 pm).
