REMARQUE (Pronounced REE-mark) A remarque is an original little pencil drawing by the artist, added to the margin of a limited edition print (usually at the bottom between where the artist hand numbers and signs each print). The same drawn image is used throughout a single edition, and is repeated on only some of the prints within the edition. The number of prints remarqued is at the descretion of the artist. In the case of my "Concord Point Lighthouse" print edition, the remarque drawing is of a little sailboat. I draw the same sailboat on each remarque print. However, each is a little different. No two drawings are alike. The remarque adds a unique feature to an otherwise identical edition print, thus adding value to the print because of the one-of-a-kind originality of each remarque. |
